This is one of my best teas. It has a sweet lemony taste from the Lemon Balm and Passionflower, but is still “earthy” from the Valerian root. Coincidentally it also contains “bitters” which will help digest supper, especially if you over indulged! I usually heat up the tea pot as I’m doing the dishes, and set the tea in to steep while I’m putting my son to bed. Then I can sit down, usually for the first time that day, and enjoy a cup while I catch up on emails, read my current book, or string a mala. Usually halfway through the second cup I am so relaxed that changing into pajamas is a struggle.
Tea is probably my favorite, and my most recommended, way to ingest plant medicine. The process of brewing a cup of herbal tea is a meditational act in itself, and should be treated that way. I like to keep my mind present, breathing in the volatile oils of the brew, thanking my creator for the day. This is my preferred nighttime ritual.
