Medicinal Plant Walk – Bluefield Ranch Mitigation Bank

Ok! This is what you all have been waiting for! Medicinal Plant Walk ON my family’s private 2,700 acre property in western Saint Lucie County!

Saturday (January 28th) we will meet at “Bluefield Ranch Preserve” located at 30501 Bluefield Rd, Fort Pierce, FL 34987 in the South parking lot at 8 am. From there we will load into a few vehicles and spend the morning exploring multiple ecosystems on Bluefield Ranch Mitigation Bank – my family’s private property bordering the preserve. Everyone will get a chance to see the Florida native plants that make up euFLoria healing products growing in their native habitat AND harvest some to take home! We will explore the historic (and haunted) Fort Van Swearingen, see tons of wildlife, enjoy a cheese and apple mid-morning trailside snack, learn plant identification techniques, review trailside first aid, and end our wild-harvesting morning at the cabin where we will eat lunch and cook s’mores over the campfire. After lunch we will make our way back to Bluefield Ranch Preserve for drop off at the cars.

Bring: Water, camera, a Ziploc bag for harvesting, pen + paper for notes, plant identifying book (if you have one), and if you have special dietary needs please bring your own lunch.
Wear: Long pants, comfortable walking shoes or boots, bug spray, sunblock.

I will provide: cheese + apple snack, all items for lunch (Publix turkey + cheese sub ring, potato chips, fruit, s’more items for campfire), toilet paper. I will have a first aid kit and bug spray on hand.

“Kids Day on Bluefield Ranch” will be on a separate day loaded with kid friendly activities.

The ONLY bathroom on the ranch is at the cabin – which we won’t be at until noon, therefore, be prepared to go in the woods until then!!!
